Welcome to Walsh’s Windy Acres Shepherds, where we specialize in raising oversized and large-boned Shepherds. We also offer long-haired or regular coats for your own preference.
We are nestled between the rolling hills and steep bluffs of the beautiful state of Iowa. In past years, we have raised a few large-boned Shepherds, a small number of hogs, and 4H calves for our kids to take to the County Fair.
We have decided to go back into breeding the old type of large-boned and oversized German Shepherd that I had grown up with. With our youngest daughter Ashley’s help (who loves to play with the puppies), they are well cared for and socialized with all the activity that country life brings.
Our males and females are OFA’d or Prelimed before breeding them. You will receive a written health and hip guarantee with your pup when they go to their new home. Each puppy will have his or her registration paper from the AKC Kennel Club once they are spayed or neutered at the appropriate age.
We decided to take pictures of our surrounding and let you know where our family and our dogs live. Please excuse the dog yards, my trimming does not get done as often as I would like with all the rain we have received this summer here in Iowa. We love our furry friends and feel they need a clean and comfortable place to live when they are not in our home having their babies. When they are not with us or out in our backyard, we have heated and cooled kennerls for them along with two large yards they can play in all day weather permitting. Plenty of play time and socialization for them is something I feel is must for a heatlhy happy family companion. We have added a Whelping Room that is attached to our house. They have all the comforts of home yet it is easy to keep clean and disinfect when need be. Heated floors for toasty warmth the puppies can enjoy along with a place for me to move in and keep tabs on everyone also. The whelping room is monitored by cameras when I am not in with the dogs.
